Packing for a Guatemala Sailfish Trip

ebags packing for Guatemala fishing trip Casa Vieja Lodge

We may only be going to Casa Vieja Lodge for four days and three nights (and they do laundry every day) but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a process involved in getting packed.

Packing for a trip to Casa Vieja Lodge

I start a month early. I make a ton of lists. I worry about what I might have forgotten.

Along the way I stage items and sort them by size, type, color and design.

And then I forget what I packed and do it all over again, adding in some additional random items.

I always think in my head that I should pack light, but the reality is that I overpack — every time. I don’t leave anything to chance.

What keeps it real for me are my ebags. If I can’t fit a four day trip’s worth of clothes into one large and one small ebag plus my toiletry ebag then I need to start over again. Even when I overpack, I’m also sure to bring things that I can mix and match so I can look different in all of the picture.

Here’s a video clip demonstrating my process. I hope it helps you for your next big fishing trip.
