Early Reviews of the DCA American Express Centurion Lounge

The long-awaited and much-delayed American Express Centurion Lounge at Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) finally opened in mid-July. Indeed, the promise of its existence was part of the reason that we applied for the Platinum Card in the first place. Its failure to open in a timely fashion is part of the reason that the card did not provide the hoped-for value over the past year.

Nevertheless, we are excited to have this option going forward, since DCA is our departure and/or arrival airport approximately half the time. Unfortunately, we won’t have an opportunity to check it out for at least a month, but we have several DCA departures in the latter half of 2024, and expect to become more familiar with its benefits and possibly its shortcomings. In the meantime, here’s what the pundits have had to say about its first days of existence:

You’ll have to decide for yourself whether this additional benefit makes a premium credit card an appropriate or necessary choice for your lifestyle. We’re looking forward to checking it out and we’ll provide our unfiltered views after that occurs.
