Fall 2024 Travel Documents and Security News
The overall flying experience for fishing travel isn’t necessarily getting easier, but occasionally there is some progress. Technology is a big part of that. While we’ve generally led the cheering for services like TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, their paperwork requirements have sometimes been sources of frustration. That’s why it’s gratifying to see tech being employed to make them easier to attain and renew. Here are a handful of pieces sharing the good news:
Global Entry is now free for kids — here's how to register -- This trusted traveler program works at more than 75 airports, and while the price for adults recently went up, members’ children don’t need to pay a dime. That eases the sting for families a bit.
Travel Docs Update: Online Passport Renewal and Digital Driver’s Licenses – You can now renew online, which means you no longer need to give up your old passport to get a new one. It also means you can pay by credit card, thereby earning a few points or miles.
Americans can now renew passports online and bypass cumbersome paper applications – This will make things much easier, although it’s not available for renewal of children’s passports, for first-time applicants, for people who live outside of the US or for expedited processes.
Enrolling in TSA PreCheck Just Got Easier at These 4 Airports – Good news for those of you who fly to and from San Antonio, Buffalo, Maui or Honolulu.
TSA PreCheck Adds Caribbean Airlines and RED Air, Bringing the Program Closer to 100 Airlines – Good news if you’ll be flying Caribbean Airlines or Red Air. It can be a big aggravation-saver when you don’t have to line up behind people who rarely if ever fly.
TSA PreCheck enrollment program coming to La Crosse Regional Airport – Good news if you like to frog and throw a swim jig and need to fly to get there.
