Fishing Travel News for the Week Ending September 11, 2021

Flight options and restrictions for fishing travel are constantly changing

Anglers Inn Deals for B.A.S.S. Members

If you’re a B.A.S.S. member, Anglers Inn International is offering a $200 discount for trips taken between September 25 and November 15 of this year. The lake is full and the fish are chomping – in fact, they haven’t been pressured for a couple of months. Some restrictions may apply and dates are getting filled up fast, so contact Hanna if you want to know more about this deal.

Hooray for American Airlines

This week American Airlines announced that they will become the first U.S. carrier to offer nonstop service to Suriname, flying direct from Miami five times a week. If you’ve dreamed of a trip to that corner of South American since seeing Larry Dahlberg catch wolf fish and nearly 400 pound catfish on TV, now it’s much easier than ever.

Boo for American Airlines

American Airlines quietly “updated” their Contract of Carriage to REDUCE the number of protections and benefits you’ll get in case your flight is canceled or delayed. For example, if they cancel your flight, they may no longer be obligated to get you to your destination, instead just providing you a refund and leaving you wherever you are. Not cool.

United Airlines Does the Right Thing

Because of the persistence of the Delta Variant, many of us are understandably nervous that we will need to change, postpone or cancel travel plans. Several airlines made it easier (and cheaper) to do so during the first round of the pandemic, but not all have come back up to speed in 2021. United recently extended the amount of time available to extend flight credits (for all tickets purchased between 5/01/19 and 12/31/21) until December 31, 2022.

Female Angler Wanted!

We have a female angler traveling solo to El Salto with us in June 2022 who would very much like to find another solo FEMALE angler of any skill level to room and fish with. She’s an experienced angler and easy to get along with. If you know a woman who would love the El Salto experience but doesn’t have someone to travel with, this is a great opportunity. Reach out to Hanna and she’ll try to figure out compatibility.

Kudos to AFTCO

AFTCO once again showed us that they’re a leader in the fishing industry, not just in terms of the great clothing they make, but also in terms of what they give back. They donated all of the profit on purchases made through their website on Wednesday, September 8 to the Worldwide Anglers Relief Fund to help guides and outfitters affected by Hurricane Ida in coastal Louisiana. If you missed the chance to help, it’s never too late to donate (and be sure to get some killer AFTCO clothing, too).
