Mazatlán Travel News for New England Travelers
If you live in New England, love to bass fish, and want to escape the frigid winters or just catch your PB largemouth at any time then Lake El Salto and Lake Picachos beckon. Unfortunately, due to the general dearth and occasional unreliability of flights to Mazatlán, it’s often a tough haul. Getting to Dallas or Phoenix in time to catch a same-day single-connection flight on American requires a 6am departure (nearly impossible if you’re connecting from a different New England city) and there’s often no way to get back in a single day, at least not with just one stop.
That may change soon, as Delta is adding a new route from Boston to Mexico City. Starting at the end of December, they’ll leave Boston at 7:50am, arriving in Mexico City at 12:55pm. It may be a tight squeeze, but partner airline AeroMexico typically has an afternoon flight from MEX to MZT. Assuming you make it, that’s not a huge improvement over the current times on American, but the way home is a different story. Now, with Delta flight 251 departing MEX at 2pm and landing in Boston at 7:51pm, with a morning flight from Mazatlán you’re able to get back to Boston at a reasonable hour, and possibly even in time for another connection. Furthermore, although I doubt it will affect pricing meaningfully, it will at least give New England travelers options. That’s never a bad thing.
Email Hanna if you’d like to book a trip to Mexico. We can’t guarantee that the planes will be on time, but the Pacificos will be cold and the service will be flawless.
