What’s Up at Panama’s Tocumen International Airport?
One of the huge advantages of going to Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge over some other destinations is that you get the seclusion of a private island with all of the convenience and safety of a major metropolis like Panama City. That starts with Tocumen International Airport, a thoroughly modern, welcoming and generally efficient point of entry and exit. We’ve been there a handful of times, and intend to go back many more – that’s why we’re thankful for the consistent improvements. Check out the following:
Panama Customs is Going Digital — Starting in April, Panamanian customs implemented a pilot plan for arriving travelers to fill out their forms digitally, instead of on paper.
Tocumen Airport handled more than 4.5 million passengers in first quarter of 2024 — The airport is served by 32 airlines, 17 passenger airlines and 15 cargo airlines, and the increase in traffic has likely in part been bolstered by some of the new Copa routes to the US. Traffic with North America amounts to 11% of the airport’s capacity.
The Longest Routes From Panama City's Aeropuerto Internacional de Tocumen — If you love to fish for tuna and live in/near cities including Istanbul, Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid or even San Francisco, there’s a direct flight option for you.
¡Excelente noticia! El Aeropuerto de Tocumen es reconocido como el mejor de la región — For the third consecutive year, Tocumen International Airport has been rated as the best airport in Central America and the Caribbean.
Copa Airlines To Serve Tampa International Airport 7 Times Weekly — As part of the increase in US-Tocumen capacity, starting June 15th Copa is increasing its flights to Tampa from six to seven days out of the week. Copa serves four cities in Florida – Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando and Tampa.
Copa Airlines to connect Panama City to Tulum — If you have the time, the funds and the energy, you can follow up your inshore/offshore trip to Panama with a flats fishing trip to the Mayan Riviera.
