Beer of the Week – Jungle Love (RIP)

Tucunare Beer

On our multiple trips to the State of Amazonas, we’ve mostly chased peacock bass (AKA, Tucunaré) but most of our drinking – besides the national drink, the caipirinha – has been Skol and Brahma. They go down smoothly, especially on those 90+ degree days when you’ve been working the chopper until your hands cramp up.

However, it seems more fitting that we should have at least tried this Tucunaré Premium Lager from Cervejaria Geada Negra (Black Frost Brewery), a beer that celebrates one of our favorite fish.

I’m not sure if we’ll ever have the chance. Their website is down, they last posted on Instagram on February 1, 2024, and they last posted on Facebook on July 27, 2023. I suppose we’ll have to head back to Brazil and find out.
