How to Tie the Bimini Twist
When the vast majority of our fishing was done in freshwater, we could be reasonably confident in our proficiency with certain key knots, including the Palomar, San Diego Jam, and FG knot. Now that we’ve become obsessed with saltwater, too, we have to learn a whole bunch more. While many of our old favorites still apply, the generally heavier fish and heavier lines demand some new ones, too.
One of those is the Bimini Twist, which creates a double line with the loop at the end – and which retains a substantial amount of the line’s strength. It’s not an easy one, but there are a wide variety of tutorials on the internet to guide you through the process. Here are some of my favorites:
