Just Fish It!
I’m not a sneakerhead, so it was purely accidental that I discovered that in June of 2023 Nike introduced the Dunk Low SE Gone Fishing Ranbow Trout. As you might expect, it was not a shoe made for fishing, but there’s nothing that says you can’t go wrangle some trout (or bass or marlin or bluegills) while wearing them.
Further investigation helped me realize that it wasn’t their first foray into salmonid-themed footwear. Near perpetual All-Star Mike Trout has an exceptionally lucrative deal with the footwear brand and in 2015 they issued the Nike Lunar Trout 2 in a rainbow pattern.
The Angels’ slugger has mostly lived up to his name. While I can’t find any articles about him trout fishing or pictures of him engaged in it, he does seem to be at least a semi-ardent angler. Last year he made news for catching a hefty goliath grouper.
He also does some fishing on road trips – including chasing various esox species when visiting the Twins.
And he’s getting his son involved, too.
Building upon that, if the Nikes don’t appeal to you, there are a number of other rainbow trout-themed shoes that might fit your style and feet even better.
And the Chacos Thomas Rhett Collection is all-in on cold water species.
