The Effed Up, Curious and Occasionally Semi-Useful Fishing and Travel Links Never Stop Coming
Google’s bots and algorithm must think I’m an absolute freak – or in need of ever-increasing jolts of dopamine – because they keep on feeding me weirder and weirder suggestions. Mom Begs Doctors to Amputate After a 'Simple Scratch' on Her Thigh Leads to 55 Surgeries: 'I Just Want My Leg Off' — “When Michelle Milton went out for a fishing trip with her brother in 2019, the mom of two slipped on some rocks — and a nylon fishing line that was in her pocket got stuck in her leg,” In the ultimate Ronnie-Lott-got-a-finger-amputated-so-he-could-play effort, she’s ready to take it all off – no word on how she’ll run a trolling motor.
Delta will launch a premium tier of lounges this year — Delta took a step backward last year, and while this may only impact a small percentage of travelers, more calming, luxury-filled options are always a good thing.
Whale vomit became the key to the most luxurious fragrances — I don’t care if you’re a marine biologist, or even whether you know that a whale is not a fish – if you can stockpile a rare, waxy material called ambergris — known as “floating gold” – you may get rich in the perfume industry.
United Airlines To Launch First-Ever Route From Washington DC To Alaska — We’ve always had to go through Chicago or Seattle to get to Alaska – now we can go straight from our local airport on our next trip to Bear Trail Lodge.
Thanks to poop seen from space, scientists spot previously unknown colonies of emperor penguins — Understatement of the year: “Brown stands out against the ice.”
The Case for Visiting Alaska in Wintertime — Samuel Clemens told us that the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco, but I don’t think he ever made it to the 49th state at any time.
