The jack crevalle is unfairly maligned by some anglers as a “trash fish.” I’ll admit, when we hook and land one in Panama when we’re expecting a roosterfish or some other coveted species, there’s a tinge of disappointment. That’s unfair – they’re aggressive biters and dogged fighters, a close relative of the trevallies that we salivate over.
