Just When You Thought We Couldn’t Find Any More Tilapia Lures
We’ve scoured the web to find you lures named or patterned after tilapia – our favorite Mexican forage fish – and we’ve documented them here, here and here, but the hits just keep on coming. By keeping a careful watch on social media, various fishing websites, and of course the major online retailers, I keep a running list of the new options I find.
Here are some of the latest:
I’ve been holding this one close to the vest for quite a while, but Yamamoto introduced a tilapia Senko at ICAST. Greatest lure of all time, in a killer color. Get ya some – as the video below shows, they kicked butt South of the Border.
Two-time Elite Series Angler of the Year Brandon Palaniuk shouted out the tilapia-colored Xzone Lures Adrenaline Craw on Facebook. If it’s good enough for The Prodigy, it’s definitely good enough for the rest of us.
Elite Series pro Tyler Rivet designed the Sucka Punch for Xcite, including a Tilapia pattern to go with three different green pumpkins, among other offerings.
Big Bite continues to expand their tilapia-flavored offerings, including in their Craw Tube, a bait that doesn’t get much public love, but which has consistently remained in the arsenals of savvy flippers.
Bass Assassin’s ribbed Woopah Craw can be used as a trailer or by itself.
I’m not sure if I missed it before, but several popular Zoom Baits including the 6-inch lizard, Trick Worm and Ultra Vibe Speed Craw all come in Tilapia Magic.
At this year’s Bassmaster Classic, Reaction Innovations made a special run of tilapia-colored Spicy Beavers, Sweet Beavers and Skinny Dippers.
And of course the swimbait world continues to pump out some incredible tilapia replicas, some of them almost too pretty to fish. In advance of the Swimbait Universe Gathering at Lake Fork in Texas, Matt Servant of Mattlures produced a limited supply of remarkably real tilapia glides, swimmers and wakes.
