Resources for Female Traveling Anglers

Kristine Rygas with a Pacific Sailfish in Guatemala

One of the greatest thrills of our hosted travel is seeing female anglers join in the fun. While there’s no biological impediment to them participating in our trips, sometimes there are social pressures or fears of traveling “alone” (even as part of a group) that dissuade them from following their passion. Or maybe they’re new to the sport and don’t know where to get started. We’re happy to be that first step.

In the meantime, we thought it wise to list some resources that’ll get you in the mood for some adventure travel.

Jess McGlothlin’s blog is travel-heavy, and while her advice and writing can be helpful to any traveling angler, the fact that she’s so talented, respected and well-traveled should dissuade anyone from thinking that they can’t do it themselves.

Few people do more to promote female anglers (and the adventures that they undertake) than Angie Scott, whose incredibly popular podcast should be on your subscription list.

None of the following blogs are fishing-specific, but they’ll give you great information about places to go, ways to improve your travel experience, and both gear and safety tips.

Finally, here’s a non-comprehensive selection of articles that’ll answer some of your most common questions – and perhaps a few you have not thought about previously.

A lot of these resources are geared to women who are looking to travel solo. If you want to go on a fishing trip alone, we’re all for that – but we think that part of the fun is joining a group of likeminded, fun-loving people. That’s why we include singles and doubles in groups that would otherwise require three or four people to be cost efficient. If you’d like more information, or you want to join us on a trip, shoot us an email and let’s get the process started
