Coming Soon: San Diego to Panama on Copa

Three big yellowfin tuna caught in Panama

Copa – one of our favorite airlines because it’s based in Panama, one of our favorite places — continues to expand their already-substantial footprint. We’ve recently detailed their direct flights between Panama City and Atlanta. They also added routes to Raleigh Durham after adding routes to Baltimore and Austin last year.

Earlier this year we explained that United was adding direct flights from San Francisco International Import (SFO) to Panama’s Tocumen. Starting at the end of June of 2025 there will be another option for our friends from our left coast, particularly those in the southern part of California: Copa will be adding flights on a Boeing 737 between San Diego International Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sunday. It’s the third destination for Copa within the state (the others beings SFO and LAX).

Route from San Diego to Tocumen International Airport
  • The PTY-SAN flight will depart from Tocumen at 1:16 p.m. local time and arrives at 6:15 p.m. local time.

  • The SAN-PTY flight will depart from San Diego at 8:58 p.m. local time and arrive at 5:20 a.m. local time
