JDM Vibrating Jigs
While there are dozens of vibrating jigs in U.S. tackle shops, the Original Chatterbait and the Jack Hammer take the largest market share of them all. They’re both manufactured and sold by Z-Man, a company which has been vigilant about protecting their intellectual property rights in a way that we’ve never seen in the fishing industry – and which we should probably see more often.
If you’re willing to go travel to Japan, or enter the “gray market,” on the other hand, there are plenty of JDM options that tend to be high-end and different from what we see stateside (albeit usually in violation of Z-Man’s stateside patents). Here are a few of them:
This isn’t an exhaustive list. Indeed, several of the manufacturers listed above have additional offerings within this genre. Nevertheless, it’s enough to get you started down the JDM rabbit hole. Many of them can be found on Ebay, but there are also numerous other retailers who are within the US or will ship to the US. The exchange rate is still good for American shoppers, so get after it now if you want something different from what the rest of your fellow anglers are winding.
