Popular Lure Colors That Don’t Work for Me
Lure colors typically become popular for a reason – they catch fish. That’s why just about every bass angler around uses black/blue, watermelon, green pumpkin, and some sort of shad imitator across many categories of lures. Those are must-have colors.
But what about “second tier” colors? By that I mean colors that are reasonably popular, but which may be regional in nature, or not considered must-have everywhere. I’ve already outlined two – pumpkin with blue flake (soft plastics) and cotton candy (spinnerbaits) that have caught bass for me from California to New Hampshire and everywhere in-between. On the flip side, though, there are some fairly popular colors that I’ve bought in multiple styles but have rarely if ever been able to make work.
