Simple and Practical Garage Overhead Fishing Rod Storage

Baitcasting rod organization system

If you’ve amassed far more rods than you can use in a single day of fishing (or even carry in your bass boat) and you don’t have endless wall space for vertical storage, consider mounting hanging rod racks from the ceiling or rafters of your garage. Not only will this allow you to utilize what is generally wasted space, but it puts them in position to easily pick and choose exactly what you need for your next fishing trip.

Additional Space-Saving Rod Storage Options

  • You can easily make your own ceiling rack out of wood, aluminum or commercially-available hooks from your local hardware store.

  • A company called Cobra also offers dedicated rod racks for the back of your garage door (another typically unused space) but I’ve yet to try them.

  • Berkley sells a wall-mount “Space Saver” rack that juts out slightly to conserve real estate along a wall.
