Big Bass Beatdown for Mr. Boss
Leroy Boss is one of my favorite traveling companions – always in a good mood, anxious to fish, and unafraid of any foreign challenges or experiences. He even saved my life (or at least my trip) deep in the Amazon jungle of Brazil, when he gave me some Prednisone to combat the no-see-um bites that had swollen my ankle to twice its normal size and were causing me extreme discomfort. If that earned him some credits in the karma book, he cashed them in last April at Lake OH Ivie in Texas.
Leroy booked four days of fishing with Hill Country Hammer Guides and was rewarded with the trip of a lifetime. He’s been all over Mexico, to Brazil multiple time, and I don’t honestly know if he’ll ever be able to top this one – a 13-03 largemouth on Day One, and a 12-10 on Day Four – but I know he’ll have fun trying.
In the meantime, he commemorated the experience with an unbelievable table mount of the two bass, along with myriad other critters and habitat. Wildlife Designs of Marble Falls, Texas, hit it out of the park with this one. I am beyond jealous of every aspect of this deal, but thrilled for my friend.
