A Dozen Articles About Crankbaiting in Mexico
If you go bass fishing in Mexico and you’re not fully prepared to throw big crankbaits, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. The first couple of times we went, we had the wrong rods, only some of the right baits (in our defense, some of our current staples had not yet been introduced) and a woefully incomplete understanding of how and why the big plugs can be your best friend.
We’ve caught fish on big cranks like the Fat Free Shad, the Berkley Dredger and the 10XD at El Salto and Picachos every month we’ve been there, but prime time is from March through early July. That’s when the water is lowest and the bass are bunched up offshore. It’s why we go every year at some point during that sweet spot. As a result of thousands of casts, and who knows how many fish, we’ve developed some definite opinions about how to prepare yourself for success. Here are a dozen articles I’ve written on the subject. I hope they help you catch your PB and have your best day or days ever.
