How’d You Meet Your Angler? – Anna and Clark Reehm

Clark and Anna Reehm

If you didn’t know, Clark Reehm and Pete have known each other since Clark was 16.

If you didn’t know, Clark and Pete both met their wives online.

Pretty sure you know, Clark and Pete are obsessed with fishing.

Through our website, you know a lot about me and Pete.

Now you are going to find out a lot about Clark and his lovely wife Anna.

HPFC: Can you share the story of how you and your husband first crossed paths?

Anna Reehm: We met on a dating site so naturally we met at church, right?! We made that story up because dating online just seemed icky, but now seems so practical. We never mustered the nerve to tell the church lie but we laughed about it. Anyway I lasted a couple of days on the dating site and just could not. Period. He looked me up on Facebook and eventually we started talking on the phone. He was at a tournament and told me about it. I thought to myself, “Is this really a job?” I kind of blew him off because he did not have a traditional job, had a child, and his truck looked like NASCAR. Then, I watched my first tournament and thought to myself, “How do I get those hours back?” Haha. Just so not me!! I guess those white teeth and fantastic hair drew me in. Headed towards a decade but the rest is still unwritten. We have traveled to tournaments together (must’ve been love because I fly), vacationed abroad, had wonderful culinary experiences, fished some pretty places, attended church, and most importantly he learned how to be a Tiger. Although I am a Louisiana native and remain Tiger Faithful, he had lived many places but mostly in Louisiana and was a Louisiana Tech graduate, but I reminded him why we call it The Boot. Needless to say, we attend many LSU events and experienced our 2020 National Championship together. I also began to teach him things about the medical world and SUNCREEN!! I learned terms like shaky head, Carolina rig, wacky rig, spawn, mapping, and so on. A lot of fun times enjoyed together and an integration of two totally different worlds.

Even though the professional accolades are sweet to us both, our greatest accomplishment is Ash.

HPFC:  What were your initial impressions or your husband when you first met him?

Anna Reehm: He’s so handsome and had pretty teeth but I’m not sure he has a job.

HPFC:  Did you know anything about fishing when you first met?

Anna Reehm: We fun fished growing up.

HPFC:  What if anything, did you know about professional bass fishing before you met?

Anna Reehm: Only Bill Dance

HPFC: Was there a specific moment or event that made you realize your feelings were more than just friendship?

Anna Reehm: Our first date.

HPFC: How long have you been married?

Anna Reehm: Eight years.

HPFC: When you met was he already fishing professionally or did he have another job and what was his profession?

Anna Reehm: He fished professionally and guided both then and now.

HPFC: What challenges or obstacles did you have to work through?

Anna Reehm: Traveling and doing life separately at times. Experiencing the highs and lows of life apart can be depriving and overwhelming. It takes communication, a strong desire to include one another when separated, grace, and a village of good people. Communication is key. We have a full ride support from our sponsors and family.

HPFC: How do you manage the frequent separation and limited time together due to his on the road schedule?

Anna Reehm: Clark prioritizes being home when he is not at a tournament so that requires a lot of extra driving for him so he can be present. He works late nights but still gets up early for breakfast with us and he is our chef. We spend a lot of quality time together because it’s a priority. Time is a thief but we are investing all we can into life.

HPFC: How do you adjust when your husband returns home after being away for weeks at a time practicing or from competitions?

Anna Reehm: If he is gone more than a week, we try to join him. But for normal times (whatever those are) we take the first day to reacquaint and acclimate. A lot of catch up talking and rest.

HPFC: Are there any activities or special events that you and your husband enjoy doing when you are together after he has been gone all season?

Anna Reehm: LSU football, Christmas, Mardi Gras, Derby Day, and just being with our family and friends.

HPFC:  Do you have any pet peeves?

Anna Reehm: Do I??? Messiness, leaving a cabinet door open, loud talking in the morning (Clark does not know how to talk quietly), running over the sleepy marks on the road, dirty baseboards, and poor table manners.

HPFC: What do you think your husband’s pet peeves are of you?

Anna Reehm: Fussing about my pet peeves of him but I like to say helping him remember the above pet peeves of mine. I think my organization gets on his nerves sometimes.

HPFC: What are your retirement plans?

Anna Reehm:  A condo in Baton Rouge during Ash’s college days and I’d like to retire in Tennessee. Traveling and renovating homes for sure.

HPFC:  What is something off the wall that no one knows about the two of you.

Anna Reehm: We are afraid of heights, Clark gets seasick, I’m a retired beauty queen, and we are both extremely creative.
