A Counterpoint to Fruit-Based Fishing Orthodoxy
It’s well-known among anglers that a banana on the boat is bad luck. You can choose not to believe it, but you do so at your own risk. Once, after I caught a 19 pound 15 ounce limit on a buzzbait, my co-angler reached into his bag and pulled out a banana for a mid-afternoon snack. I went ballistic.
“I don’t get it,” he said. “You’re having the day of a lifetime. Clearly the banana didn’t hinder your efforts.”
I retorted that had he not violated the rule, I clearly would’ve had over 20 pounds, maybe 25.
Enough people agree with me that you can’t swing an Alabama Rig without finding some sort of boat decal that makes it clear that they’re absolutely forbidden onboard. Not everyone agrees, however.
Got Em Clothing Company of Florida laughs at your superstition.
