Tattoo Tuesday -- Snakeskin

When snakeheads first showed up here on the Potomac, they were a guilty pleasure for many of us. I don’t know that anyone was bragging about chasing or catching them in the early days. Now, they’ve become a cottage industry, selling all sorts of specialized equipment to proud fanatics who love their size, their fight and their wiles.

It doesn’t hurt that they’re actually very pretty fish, which means – you guessed it – that people would start to get them tattooed a sign of appreciation. Of course, if you run a search for “snakehead tattoos” you’re going to have to wade through hundreds of pictures of Mr. No Shoulders before you get to the fish, so we’ve done the work for you.

This one by Dave Wah of Stay Humble Tattoo Company is so exceptional that it almost convinced me to drive up to Ball’mer to get one

And this black-and-white from Evy Rose Tattoo in Western Australia was inked on someone named Hannah. Drop the “h” and maybe my lovely wife would fancy a trip there for something similar.

Snakeheads love frogs, and this one from Blvd. Tattoo in a Baltimore suburb makes that clear

This isn’t a Northern Snakehead like we find here in the Mid-Atlantic. It’s a Giant Snakehead created by Clifford Wong of Singapore, whose shop is called Singapore Electric Gimmelovetattoo. He has one of the best Instagram names I’ve heard: “Wong Place Wong Time.”

I still think I’d rather have a pair of snakehead boots than a snakehead tatt, but you never know.
