New Fishing Gear Storage Solutions

I could just about live at The Container Store. Certain aisles at Wal-Mart and the Dollar Store are just about as appealing. That’s because I’m always looking for new storage solutions for my tackle. While there are plenty of great options from endemic companies, something need not be stamped “for anglers” to qualify. I’ll never be a complete neat freak, but I can generally locate what I need because I have an ever-evolving storage system that only I can decipher.

In the pursuit of the perfect collection, here are some items we’ve been utilizing starting in the summer of 2023:

RUX 70L waterproof gear hauler

It looks like a picnic basket or a cooler, but this waterproof storage box collapses down and has modular attachments for full customization, plus a lifetime guarantee. I now have one in my Suburban for tools (it replaced a long-used Rubbermaid) and we keep one for random trips and outings.

Sunline Fishing Line Camo Storage Bag

When I stocked up on Sunline in early October, I also obtained this segmented briefcase-style bag. When I go on weekend trips it makes it easy to bring and find the key lines that I may need to respool. It has dividers like a camera case or reel bag for customization.

Bass Mafia Bud Bag terminal tackle storage bag

Hanna won this in a Bass Fishing Hall of Fame raffle and I suspect she may not let me use it so easily, but it’ll be a great “go bag” for her to store her spinnerbaits, jigs and/or terminal tackle when we fish with other partners at El Salto, or on the Potomac.

Bass Mafia The Briefcase storage bag for fishing tackle

Another part of her valuable BFHOF prize package that’ll serve her well as a non-boater or traveling angler. It’s waterproof, so she can use it to carry her selection of soft plastics, or even a rain jacket, gloves and a hat.

Plano Edge 3700 Swimbait Box

Up until now I’ve been storing my hard swimbaits in a Rubbermaid shoe box or their original boxes, and my soft ones in a deep 3700. Both are imperfect and may result in bait damage. This would seem to solve that problem, securing lures in place.
