Most of you who fish for bass are probably trying to imitate shad, perch, bluegills or crawfish with your lures. Maybe alewives, hitch or gobies, too. But I sincerely doubt that any of you think that your local largemouths, smallmouths or spots regularly feed on tarpon or Murray Cod. Nevertheless, some of our premier manufacturers – perhaps in an effort to distinguish themselves – have come up with lures in oddly-named patterns. Here are nine of the most unlikely for bass:

There’s a significant chance that the bass in your preferred fisheries don’t feed on most or any of these species, but that doesn’t mean these lures won’t work for you. Depending on water clarity and the other forage available, it might be worth giving them a try.
