Apparel of the Week – Hawging Gear

J-Dock Fishing Company Hawg Baseball Hats

Ever since reading Bass Wars in the late 1980s, I’ve had a mixed relationship with the word “hawg.” I hesitate to use it about largemouth bass non-ironically, yet I’m fiercely protective of it when others try to usurp the term. Nevertheless, the folks at J-Dock Fishing Company in Seward, Alaska have earned the right to use it however they want – they process more giant fish in one summer than most of us will see in a lifetime.

They’ve processed our fish on trips on the Outer Coast in both 2019 and 2023, and if everything goes right they’ll do so again soon in the future (and many times thereafter). Each time, the fish has been FedExed to our Virginia home promptly and has arrived still frozen. In addition to processing, they book charters, and offer a market, along with some prime time pro hawgin’ gear. Get some for yourself.
